Quantificatying and modeling in late capitalism
I am a researcher in quantitative environmental impact modeling, analysing interactions between society and the environment.
This site is a space for experimenting with personal writing at the intersection of my research and my interests in philosophy and politics. Here, I explore the relationships between scientific work, the quantification of the world, and their connections to truth and political struggle.
Far from the sanitized tone of scientific journals, I write here with the frustration that comes from spending my time quantifying the destruction of the world, without any real leverage over it.
I take up the challenge of writing both for readers who are not modelers but are interested in political struggle and philosophy, and for die-hard modelers. For colleagues and friends, as well as for strangers.
